Imprisoned BJP MLA T. Raja Singh's wife T. Usha Bai has requested the intervention of Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan in thwarting the Preventive Detention (PD) Act slapped on him. She asked the governor to urge the state government to vacate the PD Act injunction against him and free him from prison. Usha Bai and Raja Singh's sisters met with the governor at Raj Bhavan and presented her with a memorandum.

She said that the police filed false charges against the MLA and treated him unfairly. Raja Singh's wife also claimed that police are harassing Raja Singh's supporters as part of an investigation. She claimed that the state administration is pursuing Raja Singh because he has questioned its "anti-people policies and practices." Usha informed the governor that the police had filed charges against her husband for even minor comments and statements, which were heard in the special court set up for elected officials. She stated that the government failed to substantiate most of the cases.

Suspended On August 25, a BJP MLA was charged under the PD Act and sentenced to prison for uttering disparaging words about Prophet Mohammad. Raja Singh is the subject of 101 criminal cases, according to the police. He is also charged with 18 public offenses. According to the police, Raja Singh has been "consistently giving provocative and inflammatory statements" and "creating a rift between communities, resulting in public unrest."

Raja Singh's wife filed a plea in Telangana High Court challenging the use of the PD Act against her husband by the Hyderabad police. Raja Singh represents Hyderabad's Goshamahal constituency in the Telangana Legislative Assembly. He was expelled from the BJP after posting an abusive video on a YouTube channel last month.
