The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinay Kumar Saxena, has written to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, claiming that stubble burning in the state has turned the national capital into a gas chamber.

"Wrote to Hon'ble CM, Punjab yesterday, urging him to take urgent measures to control Parali burning by making farmers willing partners in defeating the deadly pollution in Delhi-NCR," the LG said on Twitter. He also stated that the number of Parali fires in Panjab has increased since 2021.

"It is public knowledge that air pollution in Delhi has reached extremely dangerous levels, consistently hovering in the'severe plus' category due to smoke, 95% of which is origination g from Parali burning in Punjab," the LG wrote in the letter. He also stated that incidents of stubble burning increased by a whopping 19% between October 24, 2022, and November 2, 2022, when compared to the same period in 2021.

The LG expressed his discontent with certain elements' unjustifiable blame game instead of addressing the serious issue at hand. The LG also stated that he has asked Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar to look into the matter and has advised Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to speak with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann about it.
