Mere 'Eventbaazi' Won't Do: Congress takes a jibe PM Modi’s Rozgar Mela

The Congress on Saturday dubbed the government's 'Rozgar Mela' a "eventbaazi" by the "jumla king," questioning when the promised 16 crore employment will be made available to the country's young.

According to Congress general secretary Randeep Surjewala, Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to create two crore jobs per year when he assumed power, which has not happened in the last eight years.

He claimed that the Bharat Jodo Yatra had only moved in four states and that the government "had to accept" that unemployment is the country's largest concern.

"At least, the 'jumla king' was compelled to recognize that unemployment is the biggest challenge the country and the youth confront," he added in a Hindi tweet, calling it the Bharat Jodo Yatra's greatest triumph.

"No Eventbaazi, create jobs," he urged.

He demanded that Prime Minister Modi explain "when you will offer 16 crore jobs, as you have pledged to create two crore employment every year for the last eight years."

"When will these 16 crore jobs be created, and when will the 30 lakh vacancies in government departments be filled? The prime minister would have to respond to the country's youth "he stated in a video posted on Twitter.

Surjewala stated that the Congress would continue to press the prime minister on when the promised employment would be available.

"Giving 70,000 appointment letters would not move things forward, and the country's youth demand work, and the prime minister would have to respond to them. During the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi and the Congress would continue to press the prime minister on this issue "He stated.

Prime Minister Modi began the 'Rozgar Mela' recruitment drive on Saturday. He stated that the administration is striving to mitigate the economic damage caused by the COVID-19 outbreak in various countries around the world.

Addressing the "Rozgar Mela" after handing 75,000 appointment letters to government job applicants, Modi stated that the administration is working on several fronts to create as many job possibilities for young people as possible.

Fifty Union ministers will hand out appointment letters to approximately 20,000 persons around the country as part of the recruitment campaign.
