  • Sunil Raut, brother of Sanjay Raut and MLA from Shiv Sena (UBT), reports suspicious individuals near his home.

  • The individuals, equipped with multiple mobile phones, were seen recording footage before quickly leaving the area.

  • Mumbai Police have responded to the scene, indicating a serious investigation into the matter.

Mumbai, December 20, 2024 - A concerning incident was reported by Sunil Raut, a Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA and brother of MP Sanjay Raut, where two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle were observed loitering outside his residence in Bhandup, Mumbai. According to Raut, the incident occurred around 9 AM, when the duo, whose faces were obscured by full helmets and jackets, stopped in front of his house.

Raut mentioned in his statement that the bike's number plate was not visible, but he speculated it could be from either Uttar Pradesh or Bihar, based on the bike's model which is common in those regions. What raised further alarm was the observation that these individuals had an unusually high number of mobile phones - ten in total - which they used to record footage of his house before making a swift exit.

Mumbai Police responded promptly to Raut's complaint, arriving at the scene to gather evidence and begin their investigation. This incident underscores the ongoing security challenges faced by political figures in India, especially those in opposition roles, amidst a politically charged atmosphere.

The presence of multiple mobile phones suggests a possible coordinated effort to monitor or gather intelligence, which could be linked to various motives, including political surveillance or even threats to personal safety. The police are now tasked with tracing the bike, identifying the individuals through CCTV footage in the vicinity, and analyzing any recorded footage or data from the mobile phones.

This incident not only raises questions about the safety of political leaders but also about the methods and motives behind such surveillance activities. As the investigation unfolds, it will be crucial to determine if this was an isolated incident or part of a broader pattern targeting political figures, particularly from the opposition. The outcome could have implications for political discourse and security protocols for elected officials in Maharashtra and beyond.
