Suryakumar Yadav advances to No.2 position in ICC T20 Rankings

Suryakumar Yadav of India narrowed the distance between him and Mohammad Rizwan in the battle for first place among batters in the ICC T20I Rankings. After a solid home series against South Africa, Suryakumar reduced the deficit to 16 rating points.

 

Mohammad Rizwan, who continues to lead the batting rankings, is 16 points ahead of Suryakumar Yadav in second place with 838 rating points. If Mohammad Rizwan hadn't been rested for the sixth T20I against England at home and had scored significantly in the final T20I, he might have been able to increase his advantage. In the series finale, which Pakistan lost the series, as Rizwan got out on just 1 run.

 

If Suryakumar Yadav had significantly scored against South Africa in the final T20I, he might have passed Mohammad Rizwan. However, in a rare off day, the Mumbai Indians hitter was dismissed for 8, and India was unable to match South Africa's massive 228-run total on Tuesday, October 4.

 

As both Pakistan and India are considered among the favourites to win the eighth edition of the T20 World Cup in Australia, the conflict between the two will continue during the ensuing month.

 

With 801 rating points, Pakistani captain Babar Azam maintained his third-place position. He certainly has a chance of taking back the top spot in the batting rankings. Babar hopes to make a substantial contribution to the upcoming tri-series between Bangladesh and New Zealand in the lead-up to the T20  World Cup.

 

Due to his 108 runs from two games against the Proteas, India's opener KL Rahul moves up three spots to position 14 on the updated list. South Africa's Quinton de Kock, Rilee Rossouw, and David Miller also made notable advancements, moving up eight, 23, and 10 spots, respectively, to positions 12, 12, and 29, respectively.

The Proteas successfully held off India by 227 runs thanks to Rossouw's century, preventing a series sweep for India.

After a steady series for England against Pakistan, dependable top-order performer Dawid Malan moves up one rank to fifth, and teammate Ben Duckett (up eight spots to tie for 24th) is also improving.
