Akshay Kumar Is Now Officially Indian Citizen

Kumar had previously said that he went through a lean phase in his career in the 1990s when he delivered over 15 consecutive flops and it pushed him to apply for the Canadian citizenship.

Mumbai, 15th August 2023 - Shutting his citizenship fiasco for one same for all, actor Akshay Kumar drops the paper of his Indian Citizen on this Independence Day, and celebrates the freedom on being an Indian. 
 
Often slammed and criticised over his Canadian citizenship, Akshay Kumar shared a photo of his Indian citizenship certificate on social media. He tweeted, “Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani. Happy Independence Day! Jai Hind!” 
 
Kumar had previously said that he went through a lean phase in his career in the 1990s when he delivered over 15 consecutive flops and it pushed him to apply for the Canadian citizenship.
 
His citizenship status had come under intense scrutiny after he did not vote during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The matter also became a topic of debate after he conducted a “non-political” interview of Prime Minister Narendra Modi before the elections. During an event in 2019, the actor had revealed that he had applied for an Indian passport.
 
Meanwhile on the work front, Akshay Kumar is currently basking the glory of OMG-2 success. Next he will be seen in slew of releases, such as The Great Indian Rescue, Soorarai Pottru remake, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat, Hera Pheri 3 and more. 
 
The Great Indian Rescue, previously known as Capsule Gill, helmed by by Tinu Suresh Desai, also stars Parineeti Chopra, Rajesh Sharma, Suniel Shetty, Ravi Kishan, Kumud Mishra, Virendra Saxena and Pavan Malhotra. It is based on the Raniganj Coalfields collapse in West Bengal, in 1989, wherein 64 miners were trapped in the coal mines and how Jaswant Singh saved their lives by risking his own life.
