BSE listed companies’ m-cap breached the INR 200 lakh crore mark for the first time. Due to high investments in the market, the market capitalization of the companies reached INR 2,00,47,191.31 crore at the end of the trade.

The 30 share index gained 358.54 points at its highest peak of 50,614.29 marking the fourth consecutive day for gains.

The CEO of BSE, Ashishkumar Chauhan claimed that it is a great achievement to cross the 200 lakh crore mark or $ 2.75 trillion. BSE has also become the ninth-largest exchange worldwide in terms of the market capitalization of the listed companies.

In a span of four days, investor wealth has jumped by over INR 14.34 lakh crore to cross the historic mark. The 100 lakh crore mark was crossed on November 28, 2014.

The previous year saw the Sensex drop to a lowest but only to bounce back and breach the 50,000 marks but couldn’t close above the level. It crossed the 50000 marks twice and closed above the historic mark on Wednesday.

With this, the BSE has nearly doubled from the massive lows faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The investors also grew rich by INR 32.49 lakh crore in 2020, which helped in more returns in the equity market after the pandemic.
