Global Notebook sales grew by 54% in Q4 2020

The global notebook shipment marked 69.7 million units in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Lenovo was the clear leader of all with quarterly shipments of 17.9 million units, up from 12.1 million.

Reports suggest that the global shipments of notebooks grew 54% year-over-year in the last quarter of 2020. The growth was evident due to the adoption of digital means of education and work from home culture due to the worldwide pandemic. Increased gaming sector also boosted the sales.

Lenovo emerged as the market leader, followed by HP, Dell and Apple. The report suggested that global notebook shipments hit the mark of 69.7 million units in the fourth quarter which was an increase of 53.86% from the fourth quarter of the year 2019. Annual notebook shipments marked 226.8 million units in 2020, whereas it was 172.3 million in 2019.

Lenovo was the clear leader of all with quarterly shipments of 17.9 million units, up from 12.1 million in the same quarter in 2019. Despite the increased shipments of the brand, its market share dropped to 25.6 percent in Q4 2020 from 26.8 percent in Q4 2019.

HP came next with 15.8 million units sold in the quarter leading to a market share of 22.6 percent in Q4 up from 21.2 in Q4 2019. Dell was third with 11.5 million units and a share of 16.6 percent whereas Apple and Acer arrived at fourth and fifth with market shares of 9.1 and 8 percent respectively.
