Budget-2021:- FM Announces 137% Of Increment In Health Budget Compared to Last Year. 

 On 1 February ,2021, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announces the increase on spendings in the health sector in the Budget 2021.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented in the budget 2021 on February ,1, Government will be spending Rs 2,23,846 lakh crore for the health and well-being with an increase of 137 percent in comparison to previous year's budget.  

During Presentation , FM proposed a new centrally sponsored health scheme (PM Aatma Nirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana) with an outlay of Rs 64,180 over 6 years. She added 'It will be a part of the National Health Mission'. 
 
According to the FM release , The Main Interventions of the scheme is the support for 17,788 rural and 11,024 urban Health and Wellness Centers.  
Its mainly for the setting up of an Integrated public health labs in all districts and 3382 block public health units in 11 states , Critical care hospital blocks in 602 districts and 12 central institutions
, 15 Health Emergency Operation Centers and 2 mobile hospitals and a national institution for One Health, a Regional Research Platform for WHO South East Asia Region, 9 Bio - Safety Level III laboratories and 4 regional National Institutes for Virology. 
Also , Strengthening of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), its 5 regional branches and 20 metropolitan health surveillance units expansion of the Integrated Health Information Portal to all States/UTs to connect all public health labs and initiation of 17 new Public Health Units and boosting of 33 existing Public Health Units at Points of Entry, that is at 32 Airports, 11 Seaports and 7 land crossings. 
 Further presented the investment for Covid 19 vaccine will be Rs 35,000 crore for this year and added that If there's any requirement for more funds regarding it will be provided by the Government. 
The pneumococcal vaccine which is limited to only 5 states at present , will be rolling out throughout the country. It will annually prevent more than 50,000 deaths of children. 
She said that at present India has 2 vaccines which are at Serum Institute's Covishield and Bharat Biotech Covaxin and it has to be used to safeguard both the citizens as well as 100 other countries and 2 or more vaccines will be expected to launch soon.
As Nutrition also an important part of health and well- being so for it's proper functioning the POSHAN Abhiyaan and Supplementary Nutrition Programme to be merged and launched as mission POSHAN 2.0. It is a strategy to improvise the nutritional content and it's outcomes in the aspirational districts. 
She has informed an increase in investment on health infrastructure and to mainly strengthen the 3 areas which are Preventive health , curative health and well-being.
