‘I AM Gutted’, says Jasprit Bumrah After Getting Ruled Out Of T20 World Cup

 |

After being ruled out from the T20 World Cup, Jasprit Bumrah broke his silence and expressed his regret at not being able to participate.

During the T20I series against Australia, Bumrah made his comeback to the India team after being excluded from the Asia Cup earlier in the month. He was then named to the squad for the three matches against South Africa. The pacer was sent to NCA for additional evaluation after being forced to withdraw from the series due to a back injury.

His chances to participate in the T20 World Cup was doubted, but India's head coach Rahul Dravid voiced optimism that he would be able to return in time for the competition.

Bumrah, though, was ruled out from the tournament, the BCCI declared in a statement on Monday.

"Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah of Team India has been ruled out from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup roster by the BCCI medical staff. After careful consideration and consultation with the experts, the conclusion was reached.

Due to a back ailment, Bumrah was initially unable to play in the current Mastercard 3-match T20I series against South Africa.

The BCCI announced in a statement that it would shortly name a substitute for Jasprit Bumrah in the team for the prestigious tournament.

Bumrah has now finally opened up on Twitter about being left out of the competition and expressed his regret at not making the team. He expressed his gratitude for the well wishes, concern, and support of his loved ones and announced that he will be supporting the squad from the stands.

"I am gutted that I won’t be a part of the T20 World Cup this time, but thankful for the wishes, care and support I’ve received from my loved ones. As I recover, I’ll be cheering on the team through their campaign in Australia," tweeted Bumrah.

The BCCI will soon make a statement regarding Bumrah's replacement.
