Star Cricketer Suresh Raina Retires From All Formats

 |

Former India batsman Suresh Raina declared his retirement from all forms of cricket on Tuesday, making him eligible to compete in overseas T20 competitions. The 35-year-old will retire from international cricket on August 15, 2020, following M S Dhoni.

He returned to the IPL in 2021, but was released by Chennai Super Kings before the 2022 season. "It has been an honor to represent my country and state of UP. I'd like to declare that I'm retiring from all forms of cricket "Raina thanked the BCCI, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, and CSK in a tweet.

Raina needed to take this step to explore T20 competitions around the world because an active India or domestic player cannot participate in abroad leagues.

He may also appear in Cricket South Africa's new T20 competition, which will be staged next year and will feature all six teams owned by IPL franchises, including CSK.

Raina's last competitive game was for CSK against Rajasthan Royals in Abu Dhabi in October 2021. Raina represented India in 18 Tests, 226 ODIs, and 78 T20s. In 2011, he was a member of the World Cup-winning side.
