Osaka has felicitated the AP Female Athlete of the year in 2020 and is on a 21-match winning streak.

Naomi Osaka claimed her fourth title in her past eight appearances at a Grand Slam. She won the Australian Open at what looked like an intense and tight final but she pulled it towards her by grabbing six consecutive games and defeated Jennifer Brady 6-4, 6-3 on Saturday.

She produced six aces with her strong serving and improved to 4-0 in major finals, becoming the first woman to start her career this way, since Monica Seles did it 30 years back.

For Osaka, that is a part of a 12-0 record in quarterfinals and beyond at the majors. She also won the Australian Open in 2019 and the U.S. Open in 2018. Osaka has felicitated the AP Female Athlete of the year in 2020 and is on a 21-match winning streak dating back to the last season which also includes the championship at the U.S Open last year.

She beat Serena Williams in the semifinals and was just one step away from the silver women’s trophy placed at a clear, plastic pedestal. She made her intentions clear that she didn’t want to be the runner-up as no one remembers them. She made sure that the name engraved on the trophy is hers.

In the men’s final on Sunday, World No.1 Novak Djokovic would be fighting for his ninth Australian Open and his 18th Grand Slam title overall. He would be facing No. 4 Daniil Medvedev, who is currently carrying a 20-match winning streak and is into his second major final.
